Career guidance seminar for doctors

Karachi, A career guidance seminar for doctors will be held at the Aga Khan University Hospital on November 10.

Dr Salman Ghauri, a consultant cardiologist at National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, Karachi, further said that in current circumstances it is important for our future brains to pivotally decide their professional aims.

Dr. Salman who is also the President of PIMA said, senior doctors should feel the responsibility to guide fresh medical graduates and undergraduates and counsel them for their bright professional careers.



‘This is very informative and professionally designed program for the guidance and counseling of young doctors to make them skillful in their chosen specialties and get ethically stronger to serve for the betterment of their people and country,’ he added.

During the program a session titled ‘How to Plan Your Career’ will be chaired by Prof. Dr. Zeenat Ayub, Registrar, Dow University of Health Sciences, while the speaker will be Dr M Wasay who is an Associate Professor at AKU.

Another session ‘Pharmaceutical Sector Horizon for Young leaders’ will be chaired by Syed Jamshed Ahmed, COO PharmEvo, and Visiting Faculty SZABIST and IHM-DUHS. The speaker of the session will be Dr Imran Hamid who is Head Integrated Account Management at Novartis Oncology.

Similarly, another session ‘PLAB: Pros & Cons of going UK’ will be chaired by Dr. Muhammad Tariq, Associate Prof and Director Postgraduate Program, AKU. The speaker of the session will be Dr Salman Rasheed who is Head Integrated Account Sheffield Teaching Hospital, UK.

Also, a live video conference on ‘USMLE: Residency Opportunities & Exam Processes’ will be chaired by Dr Ali Bin Sarwar Zubairi, Associate Professor for Medicine Sector Head Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, AKU. The speaker of the session will be Dr Mohsin Ansari who is Consultant Pediatrician Salisbury, Maryland, USA.

The seminar aims to motivate doctors to follow the basic ethics and principles both religiously and socially and to organize ideological, ethical and professional training of doctors affiliated with this organization; to provide medical health to those in dire need, in disasters or in less privileged areas.

It also aims to help align the National Health Policy and medical education in the same spirit to bring professional medical associations on right and constructive lines and to strive for the solution of problems faced by health care professionals.
